Fourth Annual Strawberry Festival has Moreton Bay berry excited
Get ready strawberry lovers, it’s that time of year again, as winter wraps up, the fourth Annual Strawberry Festival is fast approaching, and it’s set to be a fun-filled day.
On Saturday 18 August, from 11am to 8pm, at the Sandstone Point Hotel, attendees will be treated to a jam-packed event celebrating Queensland’s most loved fruit.
Pacific Harbour Sales and Marketing Manager, Annette Mengel, said Pacific Harbour is proud to sponsor the event that showcases all the hard work our Queensland farmers put into providing us with the best quality produce.
“Forty per cent of Queensland’s strawberries are grown in the Moreton Bay Region so it’s only fitting to celebrate the little red berry in a big way at a strawberry themed Saturday,” said Ms Mengel.
“The program for the day includes live entertainment, a strawberry eating competition, kids rides and fireworks. A special appearance from everyone’s favourite Paw Patrol pups will also add to this year’s fantastic line-up.
“The festival will feature farm fresh strawberry stalls, strawberry milkshakes, chocolate coated strawberries, and the Strawberry Patch Bar that will specialise in an all strawberry drinks menu.
“Our Pacific Harbour team will be onsite handing out goody bags and running a virtual golf game that will give all attendees a chance to win some great prizes. You will also be able to enter into a competition to win 2 nights stay in a luxury island home.
According to Sandstone Point Hotel marketing manager Toni Forrest numbers have increased each year since the event was first launched in 2015.
“In the past we have seen up to about 6000 people attend the festival over the course of the day,” said Ms Forrest.
“We introduced the strawberry eating competition last year and we’re very excited to have it again this year as it was such a crowd pleaser last year.
“It’s great to see kids and their parents trying to stuff their mouths with the strawberries while everyone watching is in hysterics, it’s such a fun event.
“We’re very proud to host a day that celebrates our local farmers and it’s lovely for them to see people buying and enjoying their strawberries first hand.
“It brings the whole community together and overall it’s a really nice day”
